Transactional email setup problem
Transactional email setup problem
Hi all
I have a problem that after 2hours onto Sage support they could not solve. We are running Sage Line 50 professional v 2010 with 6 networked users and the database files held on our sever. We have an instance where transactional email would be very use and so have tried setting this up for the very first time. However when I go to tools > transactional email then after a split second I get the message ' Sage Transactional email failed to initialise. See application log for further details '
The application log reads thus:-
' Application logging started
Current trace level set to : eTraceLow
The configuration file 'G:\SAGE\ACCDATA\Tmail\TMAIL.INI' was successfully loaded.
Error ocurred in SDOConnection.Connect: Data files are wrong version
Error in frmInitialise_Load: Unable to connect to Sage system
All SDO Objectes Destroyed ! '
Now we have tried coping tmail.mdb files, deleting the .ini file, making up new companies. In addition we have tried running tmail on the other workstations which have XP, Vista, SBS server. Even on a standalone version of 2009 and they all have the same error and log file.
Sage think its an enviroment setting possibly, ie pointing the fingure towards Outlook and possibly anitvirus software etc. We run Outlook 2003 & 2007 via exchange and out antivirus is AVG SBS edition.
Whilst we can live without Tmail, as we have never used it before, I would like to try it as I believe it would save a lot of inputting!!
Many thanks

Re: Transactional email setup problem
Hi All, We have just had the same situation happen to us. We have Sage 50 Accounts v15. We re-installed Sage on a new computer with Windows 7.
Transaction email appeared to be set up on the old computer, but would not actually send any emails. On the new one, we are getting the same message to say that "Sage Transaction email failed to initialise. See application log for further details". I cannot find where the application log is. Can you tell me Eenie?
Equally, we would really like to be able to use Transaction Email, but the frustration of getting it to work is really getting us down. I do hope that someone can help us.
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Transactional email setup problem
The log file is in C>program files>sage>account>tmail folder on our desktops
Re: Transactional email setup problem
We called Sage in the end. They got it working by doing some clever deleting/copying a file called tmail.mdb and deleting a tmail.ini which then automatically was re-installed.
If you have a 64-bit system, then this is a known problem. We have a 32-bit system, and it should have been fine and is now.
I hope that the above helps you if you call them and ask them to try and resolve it for you.

Re: Transactional email setup problem
Unfortunatley I had already had the conversation with Sage before this post. They also tried all the clever deleting even to the point of doing it remotely on our system but it would not work.
Re: Transactional email setup problem
Could you please be specific about how they fixed it?
As in exactly which folders and files,
which were deleted or copied,
where to....?
Many thanks in advance

If you just want to send invoices by email, DON'T use tmail. Tmail is EDI. Follow this guide to email invoices in sage 50
