Sage vs14 - crashed hard drive on server - clients PC's??

Post by ps_grainger » 08 Jan 2009, 15:13

My hard drive crashed (subsequently had to purchase new PC) reloaded Sage program and successfully restored back-up. The problem I have now is that none of the client pc's on my multi-licence can see the accounts data folder. I have tried re-mapping the drive but still cannot get this to work - has anyone come across this before?

If you recreated the file share in exactly the same place then it should work.

Perhaps rather than using a mapped drive you were using a unc path?

Either way, the thing to do is to check to see what the client thinks the path to sage is, by looking in the "company" file on the client. the location of this file is dependant on the version of Sage 50.

Can you change Data Directory on Sage Server?

Post by ps_grainger » 13 Jan 2009, 15:43

I have found that I cannot access the Application data folder on my server to allow the other Pc's to access it - but if I copy it to a shared folder this works. However I would need to tell my server PC to put the data files into this shared folder rather than the local application folder - do you know if you can change the data directory within sage??

Move the data to somewhere that can be shared.
Edit the company file (on each PC if needed) so that it points to the correct directory.
