Corrupt data file

Post by Dot » 27 Oct 2008, 13:05

Sage Line 50 v11 could not backup as it said the purda and purdaidx dta files were corrupt. I have tried to restore the previous two backups but am getting a message saying they have corrupt files and restore is unsuccessful. If I delete these files from the accdata directory and restart Line 50 it asks if I want to rebuild the missing files but then freezes when it tries to.

Your urgent help would be most appreciated as I have not now done any accounts for over a week playing with these options.

Hiya
I managed to uninstall and reinstall without losing data and - wheeeey - files are back and working.

However, I now have a message saying "Error opening file C:\......\LINE50\TASKOPT\JANE.XML" when I backup and it says the backup is unsuccessful but te file is there when I check it out.

Any ideas about that one??

Sounds like access rights issue, are you an administrator, is the data on your PC or on a server/other PC?

Hiya

I apologise for not coming back to you but did not realise a message has been posted.

I am not an administrator and the data is on my pc.

Although (touch wood) I seem to have corrected that problem (although I had to reinstall all my personal reports which were lost, even though I just restored the data) I now find that when I backup it says unsuccessful because "error opening file c:\Line50\taskopt\jane.xml - Jane being one of the users of the account. (I hate to think what else is going wrong in the background.)

If I delete that file will it recreate once I log on again? I dare not try it unless I know the consequences as I do not now have an up to date backup and cannot create one.

You need full access rights.

It is only that one user that has the problem. However, I created a new user by copying jane's access info as a new user and then delete jane.xml. Now everything works fine.

Thank you for your help.
