Product Search

Post by Luke@BusinessReply » 18 Jul 2008, 17:32

Im currently looking to migrate from Quickbooks to Sage - what i see so far i like, however there is one massive thorn in my side that i cant get around.

Does anyone know how to search for a product within sage by description?

I need to be able to search by description in invoicing, sales quotes and orders and also in product database - cant seem to find search by description anywhere - can see search but this doesnt help

Any ideas guys (or gals)?

Thanks in advance

It is not very fast to search, but the search button on the lower left allows you to "filter" the view to show you just a group of products, it is not a fast search though

Yes

Where | Description | Is Equal to |*Orange*

Will find all products with orange in their description.

Good, well designed product codes should make such searching unnecessary.

Can't you can use a different field such as the Suppliers Part Number field and have normal part numbers?

no ideas on case insensitive search.

Thanks for your help - i have gone along the route of using part of product description for product code.

Ive got another quick question

Is there anyway to import a stock figure for a product?

Yes, you need to import stock transactions, these represent each batch of goods coming in (each at potentially a different price) look here for more info.
