When setting up a new company ....
There are 1000 £1 shares , I can post these to the share capital nominal account.
This also posts the same value in to '9998' suspense
Is this right, Do I need to post them somewhere else?

If you post everything in the opening TB onto sage then assuming your opening TB balances the suspense will go back to 0 as well.
In the most simplistic scenario, the other side of the £1000 shares would the the £1000 cash in the bank that you got in exchange for the shares.
