Multiple Delete

Post by Mrbrianobrien » 08 Feb 2008, 09:28

I mistakingly imported about 20,000 products into the Suppliers module of Sage. I now want to delete these, is there any way to do a multiple delete? (Ctrl + A does not work)

I dont think I can face manually deleting over 20000 entries

Thanks for the help

Use a search to filter out the records you want to keep then delete will delete everything.

Thanks for you help Bruce, I have applied the search but I still have to individually select every supplier no? When I search and press delete it states I have 0 records selected

If the search returns 0 records then there is something wrong with your search.

The search should filter down your view so you see only the products you want to delete.

Probably worth you posting the search you are applying and explaining how you are identifying these 20,000 products you have imported.

You mention suppliers ... I assumed you meant the products module in the original post. You can not import products into the suppliers module.

To delete, you need to select the items. Crtl-A does not work as you have discovered, swap is the equivalent. If you have only a few products you need to keep, then you could manually select them and then swap your selection and hit delete.

Thanks Bruce

The search gave the exact number of items I want to delete (circa 20,000) as I searched for a string that only the incorrectly imported suppliers have.

I imported our own products (using a CSV file) incorrectly into our Sage list of suppliers.
What I need is a fast way of selecting all of the suppliers that are produced by the search and deleting them - as opposed to individually clicking on each line

Many thanks

Brian

So you imported products into the suppliers module!!

Wow, that is a first, you are pretty unlucky, normally some of the other data would not fit and it would fail the import, I guess yuo did something pretty simple like prod code and description that would work as supplier code and supplier name.

Search criteria to help you find them, other than anything obvious like product codes all start with certain strings, would be to look at the last invoice/payment dates, these would tend not to be blank for real suppliers

Obviously, you can;t delete any supplier with transactions, so hopefully you sorted it without too many issues.

Glad to hear I am a ground breaker....
I have no problems searching and finding all of the incorrect suppliers - I just need a way of deleting all of them without selecting each one individually - i.e. is there some sort of 'select all' function after which I can press delete??

Thanks
