Invoice prints on several pages
We have sales invoices that have several lines with amounts on each line. the layout looks ok on the preview but when it prints each line comes out on another page. what should we do? Using Sage Line 50 2010 version 16...158 running Window 7 64 bit. Thanks for your help.

Re: Invoice prints on several pages
The problem is the size of the invoice item text field it is too tall
You need to reduce it to the same sort of height as the section so it fits inside the section.

Re: Invoice prints on several pages
Thank you, - we tried that but it makes no difference if we make the text box higher or lower it still prints each text line of the invoice with a very large space to the next line. It is as though the paragraph is set for a very large line break or a large space after each line however we do not see any setting for this.
Any further advice much appreciated.

INVOICE.ITEM_TEXT field.
Not higher up in the section, not lower down in the section, you need to adjust the height of the field itself to make it smaller than the section it is in.
Click on the field, you will see the top and bottom handles are outside of the section, drag top handle down until the top edge of the field is below the beginning of the details section and drag the bottom handle up so that the bottom edge of the field is above the lower boundary of the detail section.

Re: Invoice prints on several pages
Thanks again, however that is precisely what we did, we dragged down the top and dragged up the bottom so the box containing 'Text' is the same height as the variables to the right, (all appear about 2-3cm high on the screen). Whether we drag the top and or bottom up or down makes no difference.

Re: Invoice prints on several pages
Not the section containing text, the text box itself.
You might find it easier to make the section large so you can see the edges of the text box.
If you click on the text box, in it's properties you can see what value is in the height that value needs to be smaller.
If it still doesn't work can you attach the layout with the field made smaller.

Re: Invoice prints on several pages
We made the text box much smaller (heightwise) and it still does the same. For some reason all our bespoke layouts seem to do this whereas if we use a stock Sage layout the problem is not there. I am attaching the latest version of the layout with a smaller text box height.

Re: Invoice prints on several pages
Okay you are nearly there.
You have made the section very tall, you need to make this smaller.
If you grab hold of the bottom of the section and drag it up to make it tight you will notice that nett and tax amount go up, this is because they have been anchored to the left bottom of the section. This will mean that the section including those fields will still be tall because they are a negative off set from the top of the section, so the section grows to accommodate the offset.
Change the anchor on these to be just left, leave link position as section.
Now drag the bottom of the section up so it is tight with the bottom of your fields, the net and tax amount should not move. All three fields in the section should be visible and entirely within the section. The section should be only slightly larger in height than the fields
Save the layout and it should work fine.
NB: You should only need one invoice layout for all invoices, if you have multiple layouts then life is a pain because you have to pick the right layout, much easier to have one that does everything, you can select all invoices in a search and print them to email for example much easier than doing them a group at a time.

Re: Invoice prints on several pages
We linked the two boxes on the right to top and left and pulled the section right up tight as you suggested and it worked!
Many thanks for your help, very much appreciated.
