Year end/New company

Post by Inisfad » 26 Mar 2018, 16:22

Hello again! When we open Sage, we get a list of ‘companies’ that our old bookkeeper apparently used to set up. Each item is our company name, with a different fiscal year for each company. I had mentioned this before, and was directed to this link:
http://www.makingithappen.co.uk/sage-50 ... earend.htm
We also have two smaller ‘companies’ for ‘ladies’ and ‘men’, for the different members of our club. Our fiscal year ends on 30 September, and while the year end was done for 2017, it appears that there were no entries made from 1 October to date. It seems that we can just indicate ‘new fiscal year’ in, for example, the Ladies company, and start posting for items for 1 October onward. Is that correct?
And if so, is there any way that we can change the ‘company’ name from Ladies 2016/2017 to another name, in the company ‘list’ that we get when we open Sage?
More generally, once a year end has been completed, is there any reason to segregate years as separate companies?
Thank you for any advice you can give.

The way to advance the year into the new year is in
Tools>Year End
Part of this process creates an archive snap shot for future reference, so you can also use the Tools>Clear Audit trail option to remove all redundant transactions as per the year end guide.

You can change the company name in Settings>Company Preferences.
